BRISBANE February 5 AAP - Racing Queensland stewards have suspended jockey Melody O'Brien for six weeks for racially abusing fellow jockey Bradley Appo.
Stewards opened an inquiry into an incident at the Toowoomba races last Saturday night.
At a resumed inquiry on Wednesday O'Brien pleaded guilty to making a racial slur to Appo, who is of indigenous descent.
Stewards ordered the suspension start on midnight this Saturday and expire at midnight on March 22.
During her suspension O'Brien must have three sessions with a Racing Queensland psychologist before she can regain her licence to ride.
