Allan Reardon appointed Qld chief steward

BRISBANE Feb 20 AAP - Allan Reardon, one of Australia's most experienced racing administrators, has been appointed Queensland's new chief steward.

Reardon had been working as the director of steward development after his return to Brisbane from Victoria in 2012.

He will begin his role as chief steward immediately.

Reardon has been a metropolitan chief steward in Queensland, a senior steward on the Racing NSW panel and deputy chief steward at Racing Victoria.

He replaces Wade Birch who will head Racing Queensland's new integrity department.

Racing Queensland CEO Darren Condon said Reardon's experience and understanding of racing was second to none.
