Team Hawkes continue good form at Randwick

Wednesday 26 February 2014, 5:44pm

Global Dream sealed a perfect strike rate for Hawkes Racing at Randwick on Wednesday with an explosive victory at her first start for the stable.

Co-trainer Michael Hawkes saddled up three runners at the Kensington track meeting and came away with three winners.

"It's been a great day," he said.

Hawkes Racing's Moorluv started the ball rolling when she landed her first career win in the Congrats @ Vinery Plate (1550m) before the progressive Traitor produced a superior turn of foot in the 2014 ATC Membership On Sale Now Handicap (1400m), beating a smart field which included Geelong Classic winner Tupac Amaru.

Fifth to Polanski in the Victoria Derby, Tupac Amaru showed he was on target for a profitable autumn with a fast-finishing third.

But arguably the most impressive performance of the afternoon came from Global Dream.

Formerly with Tony Gollan in Brisbane, the filly was tardy to begin but after making ground between runners in the straight she burst clear for a dominant win.

"She was good. We're still learning about her too and I think the further she goes the better she will be," Hawkes said.

The Hawkes team will be out to continue its stellar run at Rosehill on Saturday when it starts two runners including promising youngster Mossfun in the Silver Slipper Stakes.

The Randwick haul followed the brilliant first-up win of crack colt Not Listenin'tome in the Group Three Zeditave Stakes at Caulfield last weekend.
