The BlueBlood team has four runners over this weekend at Kembla Grange and Wangaratta. We wish all connected with these runners the very best luck.
LONNERO
Lonnero showed a solid start to his career on the 15th of February at Kembla Grange where he placed 2nd in a 1200m maiden. Drawn from the widest barrier, Lonnero was caught wide for the first half of the run until apprentice rider John Kissick led him nicely down the straight to finish 2nd.
John Kissick commented “he gave me a good feel and I thought he was a very nice horse”.
Lonnero lines up tomorrow at Kembla Grange in the John and Mitch 50th Birthday CG&E Maiden Plate (1400m) at 2:56pm. The race is the 4th of the day and the extra 200m looks ideal for the gelding. He will be drawn from barrier 9 with Adrian Layt to ride.
“He is a ‘go forward’ horse so we will just roll forward from the barrier and hopefully not have to do too much work in the early stages. His first up run was terrific and it would be nice to see him strong at the end of the 1400m distance on Saturday”. Trainer Chris Waller commented.
We hope to see Lonnero’s competitiveness again tomorrow. Good luck to all connected in Lonnero.
GOD’S MISS
God’s Miss kicked off this preparation nicely when the 4yo finished third by 0.3L on the 7th of February at Tatura after showing a huge turn of foot making up 4 to 5 lengths in the final 150m of the home straight after being shuffled back to last at the start.
After setting the bar high, we were expecting her to be very competitive in her next start but we had some unfortunate bad luck. She jumped extremely well and led the straight and rider Brooke Sweeney didn’t have any option but to let her roll forward. God’s Miss didn’t have that extra kick in the final stages of the run and finished 5th.
“She needs to be ridden cold in her races and we should see an improvement when she races at Wangaratta this Sunday” trainer John Ledger commented.
The mare lines up on Sunday in the Maison Park Funerals Maiden Plate (1000m) at 2:00pm. She has drawn favourably in barrier 1 with Brooke Sweeney to jump in the saddle.
We hope to see her striking ability again on Sunday.
RESEMBLANCE
Returning from a short, refreshing holiday at the beach for a week where he was able to work in the water without putting much pressure on his joints, Resemblance will also line up on Sunday at Wangaratta. The gelding’s race is the third of the day at 2:35pm in the Nathan Vincent Fencing BM64 Hcp (1590m) where Resemblance will be drawn from barrier 2 in a field of 12 with Dean Holland to ride.
Resemblance should improve from his last start on the 10th of February at Stony Creek where he finished near the tail of the field. The gelding pulled up sore after the race and had a genuine excuse for the poor performance.
He is now looking well and is ready to race on Sunday where he should show a lot more ability.
JUSTICEFORALL
Justiceforall has been accepted to run in the final race of the day and will line up in the Greta West Stud BM64 Hcp (2010m) at 5:35pm on Sunday with Linda Meech to ride.
The gelding was entered into the Group 2 Autumn Classic (1800m) at Caulfield where he jumped well from barrier 1 but settled midfield in the race. Rider Mark Zahra encouraged Justiceforall to keep going but he suffered from a bit of interference which caused him to lose momentum and he finished 8th beaten by 4.2L.
After the race Mark Zahra commented that the gelding “lacked the turn of foot that some of the other horses had but he was happy with him”.
Good luck to all connected in Justiceforall.
