Classy mare Miss Stash is a perfect example of the adage bad things happen to good horses.

Miss Stash ($4.40) confirmed her rating as a future top-line galloper when she won the Class 6 Plate (1200m) at the Gold Coast on Saturday.

It was the five-year-old mare's fourth win from just nine starts in a career littered with injury.

Toowoomba trainer Jennifer Fraser explained it had been a long and painful trip for Miss Stash's first metropolitan-class win.

The Bradbury's Luck mare was bought for $13,500 by owner Ken Larkin as a weanling and was being prepared for sale as yearling when she kicked a feed bucket and injured a pedal bone.

After missing the yearling sales Larkin decided to lease Miss Stash to Fraser who decided to train the mare herself.

Since then Miss Stash has had a string of problems including most recently a leg splint and plant poisoning which kept her low for months.

"Yes, as they say bad things always happen to the good ones," Fraser said.

Meanwhile, trainer Bruce Hill made a wise decision when he elected to keep Dazzle Us in Queensland and avoid another clash with rising Sydney star Junoob.

Dazzle Us ($3.80) strolled home by four lengths to Trakstar ($2.40) with 1-3/4 lengths to Black Ninja ($5).

About two minutes after Dazzle Us' win, Junoob won the Randwick City Stakes (2000m) by panels.

Dazzle Us, who had finished second to Junoob at Rosehill last month, was entered for the Randwick race but Hill decided to leave the gelding on the Gold Coast.

Hill was at Randwick to saddle Teronado in the Randwick Guineas on Saturday but will consider taking Dazzle Us back to Sydney for minor staying events in coming weeks.
