Young jockey still critical after fall

Apprentice jockey Ashley Frye remains in a critical condition 24 hours after she fell during a race at Ashburton Racecourse.

Frye was rushed to hospital after falling from Zuleika in race four on Friday.

She remains in a critical condition in Christchurch Hospital on Saturday, a spokeswoman told NZ Newswire.

Zuleika was euthanised following the fall.

Frye, who is listed on the NZ Racing website as 18 years old, has clocked 71 wins from 601 rides in her short career.
