Rails draw for Samaready in Willian Reid

Wednesday 19 March 2014, 10:39am

Samaready will jump from the inside gate in the William Reid Stakes as she bids to bounce back to winning form in Melbourne's final Group One race of the season.

The Mick Price-trained mare is one of three Group One winners lining up in Friday night's 1200m weight-for-age sprint at Moonee Valley along with Shamexpress, who has barrier seven, and the resuming Caulfield Cup winner Fawkner who has drawn the outside gate in 10.

Fawkner was third to Black Caviar in last year's William Reid which was his only autumn appearance.

Samaready has won the Group One Moir Stakes over Friday's course and distance but was a struggling sixth as favourite in the Newmarket Handicap last start.

Two three-year-old fillies have taken up the challenge against the older horses with Thump to start from barrier four and Gregers gate nine.

Spirit Of Boom, runner-up in the Oakleigh Plate and Newmarket this campaign, has drawn barrier eight for his attempt at a breakthrough Group One win.
