Perth stayer out of Sydney Cup

Black Tycoon has won this year's Perth Cup and been runner-up in the Adelaide Cup but injury has ruled him out of a shot at a much bigger prize.

A hoof injury means he will not not contest next month's $1 million Group One Sydney Cup (3200m).

West Australian trainer Justin Warwick told Racing NSW stewards on Monday the gelding would be spelled.

Black Tycoon won the Group Two Perth Cup (2400m) on New Year's Day and was beaten a short neck by Outback Joe in a thrilling finish to the Group Two Adelaide Cup (3200m) earlier this month, carrying 59kg.
