Trainer Desleigh Forster has pulled the pin on the winter carnival for one of her team but has high hopes for another.

Forster had hoped Poste Resante would lead her Brisbane carnival charge but said the mare was likely to be spelled after running an ordinary fourth in Saturday's Tails Handicap.

"She is racing like she doesn't want to be here," Forster said.

"It would be futile to press on to the winter with her the way she is going."

"I will recommend to the owners we don't go on."

However, Forster was jubilant after the win of Carmora in the Class 6 Plate (1600m).

Carmora, who is one of the biggest horses racing in Queensland, showed a lot of heart to overcome Cracco in the final 200m.

"That is what he can do. Get up on the pace and then really fight out a race," Forster said.

"Owner Doug Forbes is looking at some Cups races for him."

The Doomben Cup next month is being mentioned for Carmora but jockey Michael Cahill believes races such as the Ipswich Cup could be more suitable.

"Ipswich would suit him," he said.

"He can race on the pace but he does fight on well."

Cahill has a long association with Carmora and freely admits he is amazed at the gelding's progress.

"I rode him in track work before he had a start and I told Desleigh he was too slow," the jockey said.

"But we thought we might as well give him a try and put him in a Caloundra maiden which he won. Then he came to town and won. He has gone on from there."

Forbes and Forster are proving a deadly combination also winning with I'm Chillin' and Amizade in recent weeks.

"Doug and his wife Kath have been great supporters of mine and I would love to win a big Cup for them," Forster said.

"Maybe Carmora can do it."
