Srikandi has given Victorian trainer Ciaron Maher a winner with his first runner in Queensland.
However, if Srikandi's win in Saturday's Listed Silk Stocking (1300m) at the Gold Coast is any indication it will be far from the last.
Jockey Glen Boss continued his great association with Maher when Srikandi ($4) beat La Pieta ($7) with Platinum Rocker ($4.40) third.
Maher thinks so much of Srikandi that he brought her to Queensland as a travelling companion for stayer Mr O'Ceirin who later ran second to Streama in the Hollindale Stakes.
"We didn't have any set plans for her other than to try to get black type but after that win we will have to see," Maher said.
"Maybe the Queensland Guineas or some of the fillies and mares races will suit her."
Srikandi was bought in New Zealand by bloodstock agent John Collins who later syndicated her in Australia where she has now won four of her five starts.
Maher said the filly had a stopover in Sydney on her way north and had a right-handed gallop at Rosehill to get her ready for Brisbane.
Rosehill trainer Gerald Ryan and jockey Michael Cahill combined to win their second Listed Prime Minister's Cup (1300m) when Dances With Stars overcame his track hoodoo to score impressively.
"Funny thing is Dances With Stars only seems to handle wet tracks at the Gold Coast but he has had two starts here and was unlucky both times," Ryan said.
"He is owned on the Coast and he was the only one of my runners today that I wasn't worried about on the wet track."
Ryan won the Prime Minister's Cup previously with My Duke in 2000 when the race was run over 2400m.
"Michael rode My Duke so he might be my lucky jockey in this race," Ryan said.
Dances With Stars will now run in the BRC Sprint (1350m) on May 17 before going for a spell.
