True Story in doubt for Dante Stakes

Wednesday 14 May 2014, 9:20am

Trainer Saeed bin Suroor says True Story will only line up in Thursday's Dante Stakes at York if the ground dries up.

With the ground soft after days of rain, the participation of the Derby second favourite is in doubt.

"I think that True Story will be fine on good to soft ground, but we wouldn't want the going to be too soft for him," bin Suroor said.

"The forecast at York is for dry weather from Wednesday onwards and we will make a final decision about his participation nearer the time.

"True Story is ready to go and we are aiming to run him at York at the moment."

True Story shot to prominence in Derby betting when he dominated his rivals in the Feilden Stakes at Newmarket where all three of his outings have been to date.

He holds an alternative engagement at Newmarket on Saturday in the Fairway Stakes.
