Trainer Ciaron Maher will consider raising the bar to the highest level with Srikandi after her spectacular win in the Juanmo Stakes at Doomben.
Glen Boss eased Srikandi ($3 fav) down in the final 50 metres to win by 2-1/4 lengths from Miniature ($4.20) with Pickabee ($31) a length away third in Saturday's 1200m Listed event.
Maher's original plan was to target the Group Two Queensland Guineas (1400m) at Eagle Farm on May 31 with Srikandi.
However the Group One $1 million Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) at the same track a week later is also on the table as a live option.
"Three-year-old fillies get in well at the weights in the Stradbroke and she's very progressive," Maher said.
"Every time we step her out she just gets better and when she worked super here on Tuesday I was very confident about winning this race."
While Boss has described himself as the "minister for rash statements" he was surprisingly circumspect in his summation of Srikandi's win.
"She's had a comfortable win and beat them easily but at the end of the day she beat fillies and mares," he said.
"Group races are a completely different ball game and when you're talking Stradbrokes you're talking the big leagues."
Boss was confident Srikandi would win once he saw her in the enclosure before the race.
"She walked around the enclosure with a lot of purpose and is more like a colt with the aggression she shows in a race because she wants to get the job done," he said.
"I think she's a Group horse in the making but whether it's this preparation or next time in remains to be seen.
"But I'm pretty sure Queenslanders might have seen the birth of a very good filly."
Miniature chased gamely but was no match for Srikandi while She's Clean, who was backed from $7.50 into $5 pleased trainer Chris Waller with her effort to finish fourth at her first start since March.
