Gold Coast trainer Gillian Heinrich continued her fabulous run when Eastern Prince gave her a sixth winner in four days in the Listed Queensland Day Handicap at Doomben on Saturday.
However, Heinrich admitted the way the race was run had played into Eastern Prince's hands.
Favourite Agitate ($2.20) went to the lead but was tackled by Whiskey Allround and Flamboyer with the trio going the first 600m in a sizzling 33.8 seconds.
Agitate beat off his early challengers but could not hold off Eastern Prince ($26) who ran home strongly to score by a long neck.
Heinrich trained a record-equalling five winners at Ipswich on Wednesday and Eastern Prince made it six winners from nine runners for the week.
"The race really fell into his lap. They went so hard in front and my horse does run on," Heinrich said.
"He won his last start in a Class One but it was such a big step up in class today that we gave him only a place chance."
Heinrich said Eastern Prince was not up to the better three-year-old races such as the Queensland Guineas.
Meanwhile, trainer Bryan Guy praised his apprentice Janette Johnson after she steered Regular to victory in the Ambassador Handicap (1350m).
"It was a top ride and I don't know why she doesn't get more rides in town," he said.
"For a three kilos claimer to come here and take on some of the best riders in Australia was great."
