A return to a dry track helped class mare Angel Of Mercy leave the Gerald Ryan stable a winner at Doomben on Saturday.
Angel Of Mercy ($4.80) responded to a great ride from jockey Tim Bell to beat favourite Wistful ($3.20) by a half head in Group Three Lord Mayor's Cup (1600m).
The mare is listed to go under the hammer at next week's Magic Millions broodmare sale on the Gold Coast.
Ryan's foreman Sterling Alexio said it was probably the mare's last start for the stable.
"But if she isn't sold or whoever buys her wants to race on we would love to keep her," he said.
"She wasn't suited by a wet track when unplaced in the Hollindale two starts ago and then she didn't run out the 2000 metres in the Doomben Cup last week."
Angel Of Mercy has been a great money spinner for the Galante family who have had shares in a string of good horses including Group One performers Scenic Shot and Scenic Blast.
The mare has now won six races and $430,000 in prize money.
The win was a change of luck for jockey Tim Bell who missed the chance to ride five winners at Ipswich on Wednesday when he stood down with a wrist injury.
