No decision on Group One for Time For War

Sunday 25 May 2014, 4:42pm

Talented colt Time For War is not a certain runner in the J J Atkins despite his winning performance in the BRC Sires' Produce Stakes at Doomben.

Trainer Gerald Ryan says he and the owners will weigh up the options for Time For War who beat Brazen Beau to win Saturday's Group Two race.

Brazen Beau is favourite for the J J Atkins at Eagle Farm on June 7, the final Group One race for two-year-olds for the season.

"I will discuss it with the owners this week but I think 1600 metres might be too far and could flatten him," Ryan said.

"The option is to send him for spell now and get him ready for the Golden Rose in the spring."

The Sires' was Time For War's third win from five starts and his second at Group Two level, joining his Pago Pago Stakes victory in March.

He was one of two stakes winners for the Rosehill-based Ryan at Saturday's Doomben meeting with Angel Of Mercy taking out the Group Three Lord Mayor's Cup (1615m).

It may have been her final start with the mare to go through the sale ring at the Gold Coast on Wednesday.

Ryan still has plenty of ammunition left for the Brisbane winter carnival with Dothraki to contest Saturday's Queensland Guineas (1400) and Dances On Stars heading to the QTC Cup (1300m).

Hot Snitzel, who ran eighth, beaten less than four lengths in Saturday's Group One Doomben 10,000, could back up in the QTC Cup.

"We will just see how he is over the next couple of days and if he is OK he might go to the QTC Cup," Ryan said.

"Nash Rawiller will ride Dothraki and Brenton Avdulla is on Dances On Stars.

"I am very pleased with both of them. They have done well up in Queensland.

Dothraki won the Gold Coast Guineas before finishing a close third in the Fred Best at Doomben while Dances On Stars won the Prime Minister's Cup at the Gold Coast meeting on May 3.

He then finished fourth in the BTC Sprint on May 17 at Doomben.
