Jockey Tye Angland has had to put the skills learned from his rodeo days into practice at Canterbury, hanging onto Munyeco's reins as he slid from the filly near the post in the second race.
His efforts to hold on to Munyeco ensured she carried the required weight across the line to earn her fourth prize money.
But a lack of effort from James McDonald to correct third placed The Big Bomber when he was shifting out has cost him the Queensland Derby ride on Telepathic and given Nash Rawiller the chance to get back on top in the race for the Sydney premiership.
McDonald will be out for three weeks from Sunday, returning on June 22.
He came to Canterbury on 65 wins for the season, five ahead of defending champion Rawiller.
The gap was four by the end of the day's racing with McDonald riding one winner and Rawiller two including Enormous Honour in the race in which his rival was suspended.
McDonald pleaded guilty after telling the stewards inquiry his horse was a green first-starter and he was unaware Angland was between his mount and the winner.
Angland was not injured in the incident and continued to ride throughout the meeting.
