Sacred Star has been give a one kilogram penalty for his QTC Cup win and will carry 53.5kg as he tries to defy history in the Stradbroke Handicap.
Since the Group Two QTC Cup (1300m) was introduced in 1979 as a lead-up to Brisbane's premier race, no horse has completed the double.
Among those to fail are superstar sprinters Schillaci, Hareeba, My Gold Hope and Ortensia.
The QTC Cup winner gains automatic entry to the $1.38 million Stradbroke and Sacred Star earned his spot with a last-stride win on Saturday to give Tim Bell one of three Group winners on the day including the Group One Queensland Oaks.
Bell has chosen Sacred Star over River Lad as his Stradbroke mount and the New Zealander is a $10 chance with Srikandi the favourite.
Trainer Tony Pike has had the Stradbroke as his target for Sacred Star for some time and is convinced the four-year-old has the right credentials to win.
"The 1400 metres will suit him and we came for the Stradbroke so that is where we will be going," Pike said.
