Renowned for his success with stayers, Chris Waller showed his patient approach was just as effective with two-year-olds when he produced a juvenile double at Warwick Farm on Wednesday.

Four days after celebrating the second five-timer of his career at Rosehill, Waller made a clean sweep of the two-year-old races at Warwick Farm with first starter Winx taking out the fillies' division and Delectation proving the superior male.

Waller admitted he was tempted to prepare Delectation for an early spring stakes test but would resist in favour of a more conservative approach.

"If I just knew he was going to measure up to the good three-year-olds in races like the San Domenico I'd pop him out for a break now," Waller said.

"It's probably one step too far to have that much confidence. Now is a good time to give him another run, get some more prize money and then put him away and look for something a bit later in the spring.

"He's a very nice horse but he still does a lot of things wrong. Even today he wanted to get his head up a few times."

The victory was Delectation's first from four starts but he showed promise in his initial campaign with a second to subsequent Magic Millions winner Unencumbered and a fifth to Fighting Sun in Listed grade.

Winx earned high praise from Waller after she came from worse than midfield to overhaul the more experienced Felines by three-quarters of a length in the Ibis Milano Restaurant Hcp (1100m).

However, he will also resist the lure to pit her against the better fillies early next season.

"She had to be good to pick them up from where she was today," Waller said.

"But the spring comes up too quickly. If you win on debut now and go into the spring up against experienced horses off a short spell, it often backfires."

Waller made it a winning treble when The Alfonso took out the final race.

Meanwhile, Wendy Walter saddled up her first Warwick Farm runners since the sudden death of her husband, trainer Guy Walter, less than two weeks ago.

The pair were sentimental favourites at their home track and were competitive, finishing among the minor placings.
