A wet track contributed to Territory's first-up downfall and trainer Jarrod Austin is expecting the sprinter to confirm Ramornie Handicap plans in better going at Randwick on Saturday.
"The heavy conditions were against him in the June Stakes but he will go much better if he gets a better track on Saturday.
Territory was well backed to win the June Stakes before the rain arrived and he laboured to finish midfield behind Avoid Lightning."
"If we happen to get rain again and the track is heavy I would probably scratch him," Austin said.
"I want to have him fresh for the Ramornie and another run on a heavy track would flatten him too much."
Territory has compiled a consistent Sydney record since joining Austin's Warwick Farm stable with the latest of three wins for the trainer coming at the expense of talented sprinter See The World in March.
The strength of that form is enough for Territory to be a deserved favourite despite a host of winning chances in the Winter Dash (1200m).
Austin has already had some cause for celebration this week after his first starter Bonee Tess dead-heated with the Chris Waller-trained Wine Tales at Warwick Farm on Wednesday.
