French star Treve will miss the rest of the European summer following her shock defeat in the Prince of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Harry Herbert, racing manager for owners Al Shaqab, said Treve had been checked over since her return to France and appeared to have muscle soreness.
He said it was hoped Treve, the world's equal highest ranked horse in 2013 with Black Caviar, would be back to defend her title in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe in October.
"She was a bit sore at the top of her back into her quarters, so probably when she did a couple of kicks in the pre-parade ring it might have just tweaked something there," Herbert said.
"It's nothing serious, but there's a need for recuperation and she'll be trained for the Vermeille at Longchamp and then the Arc, hopefully."
Treve appeared not to move well to post in the hands of Frankie Dettori and looked ill at ease during the race at Ascot.
