Trainer Tom Dascombe plans to give Brown Panther the chance to defend his crown in the Goodwood Cup on July 31.
The six-year-old stayer won the Group Two by three and a half lengths last summer and shaped honourably on Thursday when fourth in the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot.
Dascombe told the Times: "It looked like he was going to win when he took it up with two furlongs to go but he just didn't get home.
"I'd imagine it will be back to the Goodwood Cup for him next."
Cheshire-based Dascombe could also aim high with Snap Shots, who finished a solid fourth in the Norfolk Stakes at the Royal meeting.
The young Kodiac colt is in the frame for the Nunthorpe at York in August, with Dascombe saying: "He will need to win something decent beforehand to justify his entry, but he's a lovely horse and is very quick."
