Trainer Kelly Schweida is tempted to abandon his usual policy of chasing QTIS bonus money and head south with unbeaten two-year-old Miss Cover Girl.
Schweida has long had a policy of keeping his good two and three-year-olds in Queensland to chase bonuses.
However, he was left pondering after Miss Cover Girl ($3.40 fav) stormed home to beat Little Fighter ($7) by 2-1/2 lengths in the Bruce McLachlan Classic (1200m) at the Sunshine Coast on Saturday.
It was Miss Cover Girl's fourth win from as many starts and all have been in dynamic style.
"She is very good isn't she. I was a bit worried today that she had lightened off in the stable. She has been up for a while," Schweida said.
"But she really hit the line today and I can just repeat she is pretty smart.
"I mean it is tempting to race for that $56,000 first prize all the time in those QTIS city races. But I don't think she would be out of place in the south."
Schweida has no doubt that Miss Cover Girl would run a strong 1600m in races such as the Thousand Guineas in Melbourne.
"I trained Miss Cover Girl's dam Tolart and she won up to 1800m," he said.
The win gave Schweida a winning double after his earlier win with Tiger Dimejan in the BOQ Chancellor Park and Mooloolaba Hcp (1200m).
It was Tiger Dimejan's second win on end since she nearly fell in a horror incident at Doomben in early April.
