Group One-winning trainer Wez Hunter has been fined more than $4000 after a hearing into a positive swab returned by one of his runners.
Hunter faced the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board in Melbourne on Thursday and pleaded guilty to two charges arising from the banned substance Betamethasone, a corticosteriod, being detected in a pre-race urine sample taken from Kentucky Dreaming at Mornington on April 5.
The first charge related to the prohibited substance being found in Kentucky Dreaming's system when it was presented to race and the second was for failing to keep proper treatment records.
Hunter was fined $3,500 for the first charge and $750 for the second.
Kentucky Dreaming was disqualified from the Mornington race in which it finished last.
