Another public gallop between races at Warracknabeal has edged Puissance De Lune closer to a race return.
The Darren Weir-trained import is expected to resume in the Group Two PB Lawrence Stakes at Caulfield on August 16 for his first start since his unplaced run in last year's Cox Plate.
Puissance De Lune won the PB Lawrence Stakes first-up from a spell last year.
The grey entire, who suffered a tendon injury in the Cox Plate and missed the autumn, had an exhibition gallop at Warracknabeal last Sunday week with stablemate Streets Away and the pair worked again between races on Tuesday, crossing the line together.
"He was great in himself and it was good, strong gallop which is what Darren was after," Brad Rawiller, who rode Puissance De Lune, told TVN.
"I can't be happier with how he felt. He had a nice blow when he pulled up, but that will sharpen him up."
