Brisbane's neck-and-neck jockeys' premiership race isn't the only close racing title to be fought out over the next week.
Tony Gollan has won the Brisbane trainers' premiership but the title of the leading Queensland trainer remains alive.
Gollan is clinging to the lead with 78 overall Queensland winners, just 1-1/2 in front of Robert Heathcote.
Matt Dunn had his 100th winner for the season at Ballina on Tuesday but only 75 of those have been on Queensland tracks and he sits in third place.
Heathcote has 81-1/2 winners across Australian racetracks while Gollan has 80.
Meanwhile, Michael Cahill and Tim Bell, both on 56 wins, will resume their hostilities for the Brisbane jockeys' premiership on Saturday.
Cahill appears to have the far stronger book on Saturday with genuine chances in all races on Solitaire Princess, Black Magic, Despina, Ongoing Venture, Sir Berus, Caballo Rapido and Black Cash.
Bell's mounts are mostly outsiders in Slots, Mister Booze, Domini, Karanja and Dousachi.
