It took a long time for Circle Of Power to race on his home track but it was worth the wait as he burst through to claim victory at Warwick Farm on Saturday.

Trainer Rod Craig had his concerns pre-race as Circle Of Power, who was having his 40th start but first at Warwick Farm, sweated up in the heat before the Pro-Ride Handicap (1600m).

And connections then had to survive a protest lodged by Blake Shinn who rode third placegetter Mr Edison.

Shinn said Kathy O'Hara on Circle Of Power had moved to take a run between two horses that he felt he'd established at the 150m mark.

Stewards ruled the run was open and O'Hara had beaten Shinn to the gap before going on to defeat Too Hi Tek by half a length.

Mr Edison was another half-neck away.

"I did have concerns because he was sweating terribly before the race," Craig said.

"It was his first start here. They get used to getting on the float and going away to the races and they settle down more.

"You don't like seeing them sweat up like that but he's done a great job."

Craig said he would look at the Group Two Villiers (1600m), again at Warwick Farm, as a possible option in three weeks.

While Craig was delighted to have Circle Of Power back in the winner's circle for the first time in 17 months, fellow Warwick Farm trainer Jason Coyle was thrilled to just have four-year-old Lady Be Great back at the races.

And Lady Be Great showed she is a promising mare as she marked her first start since January with a hard-fought win in the Tab.com.au Handicap (1000m).

Lady Be Great fought out the finish with Ain't She Grand and lasted to win by a short half-head in just her fourth start.

"She's had chips removed from her knees," Coyle said.

"If we can keep her sound and at one hundred per cent, I think she's a stakes filly."
