Long run ends as Newitt cops suspension

An extraordinary run of good luck and clean riding came to an end for Craig Newitt at Caulfield on Saturday when he was suspended for 10 meetings.

Newitt had gone 2382 rides without suspension before he fell foul of the stewards for causing interference in the East Malvern Bank Handicap in which he rode Help.

He pleaded guilty to a carelsss riding charge and can resume on December 11.

Stewards also suspended Jake Duffy for 12 meetings for careless riding in the Victoria Cup in which he rode the winner Shout Out Loud.

Duffy pleaded guilty to causing interference to third placegetter Fast And Free.

He can resume riding on December 14.
