Trainer Daryl Hansen will examine the race calendar closely in an effort to qualify impressive Ipswich winner Le Chef for the Magic Millions 2YO Classic.
Le Chef ($3) strolled home in Wednesday's XXXX Gold 2YO Plate (1110m) by 4-1/2 lengths in a slick 1:04.52.
Hansen said he would love to qualify Le Chef for the $2 million Classic on January 10 but the youngster would need to improve on his $14,100 prize money to get in the field.
Hansen will try to find a race for him in the next 2-1/2 weeks.
"We will be doing our best. We will have to see what we can do," Hansen said.
Le Chef, who is by leading sire Exceed and Excel, is owned by north west Queensland owner Lenore Saunders who paid $120,000 for the colt.
Hansen put blinkers on Le Chef after he finished fifth to ruling Magic Millions favourite Wicked Intent at his only other start.
Winning jockey Luke Tarrant said Le Chef had an ordinary start at Ipswich but had picked up the bit quickly.
Trainer Bruce Hill is also hoping Miss Husson ($2.50) will get into the Magic Millions fillies and mares race after her Ipswich win.
Miss Husson lived up to her good winter carnival form to easily claim the Class 3 Plate (1350m).
