Trainer Trevor Bailey was all smiles after classy filly Tales of Fashion drew an inside barrier for the Vo Rogue Plate at the Gold Coast.
Tales Of Fashion drew barrier two for Saturday's Group Three 1300m race, the traditional lead-up to the Magic Millions Guineas on January 10.
She will be having her second run back from a spell after being run down on the line by Newcastle filly Savoureux in the Mode Stakes at Doomben three weeks ago.
Bailey believes Tales of Fashion should be unbeaten at her past four starts instead of having just one win in that period.
"In the Mode she drew barrier 12 and had to be used up to cross and lead," Bailey said.
"She got beaten a lip. It was a terrific effort."
"This time she should be able to get up on the pace without any extra effort."
"But it has been the story of her career, never having any luck."
Race jockey Robbie Fradd rode Tales of Fashion in trackwork this week and gave the filly a glowing report.
"Robbie and I were talking about the importance of barriers and especially around the Gold Coast track," Bailey said.
"So when she drew barrier two on Wednesday we couldn't stop smiling."
Bailey will also saddle up Avalanches who will be favourite for the Stuart James Memorial Hcp (1800m).
"The statistics tell the tale with him. It is his favourite track and favourite distance," Bailey said.
Avalanches has had eight starts at the Gold Coast 1800m for five wins and three minor placings.
