Magic Millions boss Gerry Harvey has enjoyed a successful few days with prices up the annual Gold Coast yearling sale and a winner on race day.
The Robert Smerdon-trained Real Time won Saturday's Class Six Plate for Harvey to stamp himself a star of the future.
The runner-up Architect swept to the lead and was going strongly several lengths in front passing the 200 metre mark but Real Time produced an amazing spurt to mow him down in the final 50 metres.
It was his fourth win from seven starts and Smerdon said he had a big future.
"We have a very high opinion of this horse," Smerdon said.
"The original plan was to take him to the Gold Coast for the Magic Millions Trophy but he would have been very badly weighted against open company horses.
"He would have at least run a place and he would have gone up sharply in the ratings. Then he would have been weighted out of some races.
"It was better to run in the Plate where he got in very well at the weights and his rating won't soar for the win."
Real Time will now head back to Melbourne and be set for a spring campaign.
"I suppose we could be back in Queensland for the winter but it might not fit in with his schedule time wise," Smerdon said.
Real Time continued the influence of his sire, 1999 Two Year Old Classic winner Testa Rossa.
Harvey retained Real Time when he was passed in at $120,000 at the 2012 yearling sale.
