Damien Oliver will replace West Australian star apprentice Chris Parnham on Tried And Tired in the Chester Manifold Stakes.

Parnham won the Listed Christmas Stakes on Tried And Tired at Sandown on Boxing Day to claim his first feature win in Victoria.

But with Oliver available for Saturday's meeting at Flemington, the premiership leader will jump back aboard Tried And Tired.

"The only reason Damien didn't ride him last start was because he was suspended," Tried and Tired's co-trainer Troy Corstens said.

"Nothing against Chris, it would have been nice to stick with Chris, but Damien had done nothing wrong so he gets back on."

Oliver rode Tried And Tired two starts ago when he was beaten just over a length second-up over the Chester Manifold course and distance.

Three of Tried And Tired's seven career wins have been over 1400 metres and Corstens, who trains in partnership with his father Leon, said the horse had trained on well since his Boxing Day victory over 1200m.

"He has done exceptionally and we're looking forward to seeing him back out over the 1400 on Saturday," he said.

"If it's a similar field to what he's been racing against he's going to be terribly hard to beat."

Tried And Tired settled close to the speed in the Christmas Stakes before forging clear over the final stages to beat Lord Of The Sky by 1-3/4 lengths.

The Listed Chester Manifold has attracted 17 nominations including last-start Standish Handicap winner Decircles and 2014 winner Anlon.

Standish placegetters Lord Of The Sky and Reparations are also entered and the Gerald Ryan-trained Red Excitement will head south from Sydney for the $120,000 race.

Red Excitement scored a first-up win at Rosehill on December 20 in his first start for more than 10 months.

With the autumn carnival on the doorstep, the bar could be raised for Tried And Tired if he can win again on Saturday.

"Obviously you can't get carried away because we're in the summer period, but if he can carry this form into the autumn then we're going to need to reassess where he's at," Corstens said.
