Secret Agenda to step out in Prelude

Monday 19 January 2015, 3:55pm

Trainer Mick Price will wait until the fillies' Prelude at Caulfield to launch the Blue Diamond campaign of impressive debut winner Secret Agenda.

The filly sits on the second line of betting for next month's $1 million Group One Blue Diamond Stakes, having won her only start by 3-1/2 lengths at Moonee Valley on December 12.

Some of the Blue Diamond hopefuls are set to step out in the respective Blue Diamond Previews at Sandown on January 26 but Price said he had not considered that for Secret Agenda.

"Timing wise it was too close, and then I would have had to give her too much racing," Price said.

"She'll run in the Prelude. She is going well."

Price plans to give the filly a couple of jump-outs ahead of her return from a let-up in the 1100m Group Two race for fillies on February 14, two weeks before the Blue Diamond (1200m).

The Caulfield trainer won the Blue Diamond with Samaready in 2012 and has had a number of contenders for Melbourne's premier juvenile race over the years.

He believes Secret Agenda, a daughter of Not A Single Doubt, has the talent to be considered a Blue Diamond prospect.

"I think she'll run pretty well but you've got to see it on the day," Price said.

"I'm not going to go saying `this is another Samaready'.

"But she's spunky and fast and we're entitled to be looking at her as a Blue Diamond possibility.

"She was strong at Moonee Valley, and she is going well."

The Robert Smerdon-trained Fontiton holds Blue Diamond favouritism at $4.60 ahead of Secret Agenda ($5.50) and Ottoman ($8).
