Improving stayer Taiyoo maintained his unbeaten record on the Sandown Hillside track with a decisive win on Saturday.
The win was Taiyoo's fifth victory from his last six visits to the racetrack as he powered away to a three-length win.
Part-owner Darren Dance, of Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock, said the gelding would contest the Torney Night Cup (2500m) at Moonee Valley on February 20 before going for a well-earned break.
A winner of 11 of his 24 starts, Dance said the gelding of Taiyoo as a three-year-old was responsible for turning around his fortunes.
"He's such a genuine horse," Dance said.
"We gave him plenty of time early and it took us a while to get him going.
"We probably should have gelded him earlier than we did as it held him back, but I think we're getting the benefits of that now."
Taiyoo won three successive races over 1800m on the Sandown Hillside last preparation and has gradually been stepped out in trip this time in.
The gelding was purchased from the Coolmore after originally being passed in and Dance thought he would be a nice miler.
After a break and returning to trainer Darren Weir, Dance hopes Taiyoo can develop into a Bendigo or Ballarat Cups horse next campaign.
"I want to look after him. He's such a ripper," Dance said.
