Godolphin galloper Miniver might be a filly going places after a solid on-speed performance at Sandown.
The Bernadini three-year-old showed a quick turn of foot when Chad Schofield asked her for an effort and held on to win by a head from Tan Tat Diamond.
Godolphin's Melbourne foreman David Charles said trainer John O'Shea had always held Miniver in high regard and said it was encouraging to see her win like she did in town.
After beginning her career with maiden placings at Bendigo and Cranbourne, Miniver resumed from a spell with a 1200m Moonee Valley maiden win on January 30 before progressing to Wednesday's benchmark 70 race to make it two from two in her current campaign.
"It was a very tough win, full of merit," Charles said.
"It's very hard to lead here at Sandown and they came at her late, but she held on well."
Charles said Miniver would be kept to sprinting for the immediate future and he was unsure of plans for the filly.
Schofield was surprised with the way Miniver accelerated when he asked the filly to quicken.
"She was tiptoeing late but I did let her go pretty early though," Schofield said.
"I didn't expect her to sprint as quickly as she did and I knew she would be vulnerable late.
"If I had waited 50 more metres she would have won more convincingly."
