Lee Freedman is undecided whether Minnesinger will make his stakes racing debut in the CS Hayes Stakes at Flemington or be saved for another assignment.
Minnesinger is part of a good line-up of 14 three-year-olds in Saturday's 1400m Group Three race at Flemington but has drawn the outside barrier.
Freedman said that was one of the things to consider in making a final decision whether the last-start Sandown winner takes his place.
"I'm mulling over whether I'll run him," Freedman said.
"There's a couple of other options I've got in my head and I'll make a decision by Friday."
Minnesinger is by 11-time Group One winner Lonhro and out of the late Serenade Rose.
Freedman, who now trains in partnership with his brother Anthony, trained outstanding filly Serenade Rose, the winner of three Group One races during her three-year-old season in 2005/06 including the VRC/AJC Oaks double.
Minnesinger broke his maiden at Kilmore at his third start and stamped himself as a horse on the rise with a midweek city win over 1600m at Sandown on February 4.
The Godolphin-owned colt is an $11 chance in early betting for the CS Hayes Stakes, a race which features a host of Australian Guineas hopefuls.
The Chris Waller-trained Kermadec, also an acceptor in the Hobartville Stakes in Sydney, and the Henry Dwyer-trained unbeaten gelding Lucky Liberty share favouritism at $5.50.
Former WA gelding Disposition and Sandown Guineas runner-up Stratum Star are at $7.
Disposition finished second in the Group One Kingston Town Stakes in Perth at his most recent start before he was sent to Victoria to be trained by Wez Hunter.
