Sydney Cup-bound Greatwood has taken a major step to his Group One goal with a Listed victory at Rosehill.
The Gai Waterhouse-trained imported stayer led all the way to win Saturday's Parramatta Cup (1900m), holding off Burbero by a half length.
His jockey Tommy Berry believes Greatwood can step up this autumn and had even more reason to celebrate with his 15-day-old son Kaiden Nathan making his first appearance at the races.
"It's special to have him here," Berry said.
"He won't remember it but I will be able to tell him.
"He's going to be coming to the races for a long time."
Berry said Greatwood was now ready to take on better company.
"We thought he would be a Sydney Cup horse last year but it didn't happen," he said.
"This time he is showing he is a dead-set stayer and hopefully he can give me another Sydney Cup."
Berry won last year's Sydney Cup on the Waterhouse-trained The Offer.
