Apprentice Beau Appo was the bookmakers' pin-up boy when he completed a long-shot double on Seashells at Ipswich on Wednesday.
Seashells ($13) also gave trainer John Morrisey a winning double when she got up on the fence to win the Channel 7 Handicap (1666m).
The race was transferred from last Saturday's washed-out Doomben meeting and Seashells picked up $66,000 in prize money and a QTIS bonus.
Appo also won on Aha I See ($31), making the first race a wipeout for punters.
"Things worked out nicely for us as I was able to get a good trail behind the leaders on the fence. It is always good to ride a few metropolitan winners," Appo said.
The son of former jockey Lyle Appo, Appo has ridden 18 winners this season and it was his third metropolitan double.
Morrisey continued his long association with former NSW racing boss and breeder Gary Pemberton and his family when Wobbly Boots ($4.20) won the West End Old Boys Handicap.
Wobbly Boots won her previous start at the Gold Coast in equally good style and is headed for a Saturday city race.
Morrisey and Pemberton have won many races including three Eye Liner Stakes at Ipswich with the class sprinter Pittance.
Young Deagon trainer Bradley Smith continues to improve former central Queensland mare Grantly Miss ($4.20) which won the Blackall Butchery Handicap (1350m).
Smith won a race at the Deagon picnic meeting with Grantly Miss in September and since then has guided her to three more victories.
"She tries hard and we were keen to get her a metropolitan-standard win," Smith said.
