The Group Two VRC Sires' Produce Stakes at Flemington is a target for Queen Of Wands after the filly relished a drop in class and rise in distance to win at Sandown.
The Clarry Conners-trained two-year-old was sent to Victoria to run in the Blue Diamond Stakes but after her sixth in the Prelude those plans were scrapped.
Representing his father, Heath Conners said the Sires' Produce Stakes over 1400m on March 14 was instead pinpointed as an immediate target for the daughter of Not A Single Doubt who broke her maiden in Wednesday's Guinot Skincare Handicap (1300m).
Heath Conners also trained his own winner on the program with Refer taking out a 1300m fillies and mares benchmark race, with both horses ridden to victory by Brad Rawiller.
Queen Of Wands had been beaten by stakes-placed Haybah on debut at Ballarat before being unplaced in the Blue Diamond fillies' Preview and Preludes won by Blue Diamond favourite Fontiton.
Rawiller was taken by the filly's performance in the Prelude to work home for sixth after being outsped over the 1100m, and said he expected the youngster to run well.
"Today she did what I thought she should," Rawiller said.
"Her run the other day was terrific and up to the 1300 (metres) she was able to begin well and hold a spot closer before coming back underneath me which going towards the Sires' is imperative.
"She sprinted pretty quickly and sustained it to the line."
Queen Of Wands also holds a nomination for the ATC Sires' Produce Stakes at Randwick and Heath Conners said the Champagne Stakes over 1600m later in the Sydney carnival could also be an option.
Queen Of Wands, the $4 favourite, settled midfield before Rawiller got her to the outside in the straight.
The filly took a while to warm up but hit the front passing the 200m and broke clear to win by 2-1/4 lengths over Gredington.
