A filly her trainer describes as the best horse he has ever had has stamped her authority over her generation at Warwick Farm.
First Seal lived up to her $1.50 favouritism in Saturday's Group Two Surround Stakes (1400m), coasting to a 2-3/4 length win over Supara ($26) with Slightly Sweet ($21) another 1-1/4 lengths third.
John Thompson, who trains the three-year-old for the China Horse Club, says she will now take on older mares in the Coolmore Classic in two weeks.
He admitted he was disappointed with her first-up second to Adrift who finished in her wake on Saturday.
"She was underdone last start but I still thought she would probably win," Thompson said.
"I admit I wasn't that happy with the ride at the time. But she found a bit of trouble and the track didn't play in our favour that day."
Thompson could not have been happier with Blake Shinn's ride in the Surround and said First Seal, the winner of the Flight Stakes in the spring, would be primed for her tilt at a second Group One.
"She has tightened up a lot and is really switched on," he said.
"I think she is the best horse I have trained.
"I worked with a lot of good fillies when I was with Bart and he taught me a lot.
"How to let them come along and to know when to push and when to pull.
"If you look at the top 20 trainers, three-quarters of them wold have worked for Bart."
Shinn also placed First Seal on a pedestal.
"You ooze confidence when you ride her. She is a great filly. She proved that in the spring winning the Flight Stakes and she has come back in great order," he said.
"I am very lucky, I have ridden some good horses. She is up there with the best of them I think."
Shinn may, however, have a problem riding her in the Coolmore Classic (1500m) as Thompson expects her to get 54.5kg, which is under the jockey's declared weight.
