The state of the Sandown Hillside track has again come under fire following racing on Wednesday.
Both the Hillside and Lakeside courses have been criticised over slippery surfaces but on Wednesday significant amounts of grass and sand was being kicked up by horses from early in the meeting.
Victorian president of the Australian Trainers Association, Robbie Griffiths, said while the track was firm it was cutting up too easily.
As a result, the track became shifty and a lot of horses were reluctant to stretch out.
Griffiths said the Sandown track was a workhorse for the industry that had been overused in recent months due to course renovations at Caulfield.
Monday's meeting at Sandown moves to Lakeside with the rail in the true position and Griffiths said there may still be some frustration, but not as much as with Hillside.
"Walking the track it should go ahead okay but it's not going to be as good as the Sandown we know," he told Melbourne radio station RSN.
The Sandown Hillside meeting set down for April 29 was transferred to Geelong last week.
The Pakenham Racing Club's new track at Tynong earned rave reviews following their first meeting last week.
But in consultation with Racing Victoria the club has decided not to race on the turf surface during winter.
Meetings on June 4 and July 5 have been transferred to the Polytrack while the June 21 and July 19 meetings have been moved to Cranbourne.
Paul Bloodworth, RV's racing operations manager, said the transfers would allow the turf surface to benefit from a break after its first four meetings.
