A wet track and a topline field hold no fears for Victorian trainer Robbie Laing who sends Lord Of The Sky out in the TJ Smith Stakes at Randwick.
Lord Of The Sky finished fourth in the Newmarket Handicap won by Brazen Beau from Chautauqua and Terravista.
Defending titleholder Lankan Rupee was sixth and later found to have pulled chest muscles.
Terravista, who tops the world sprint rankings with Lankan Rupee, is the equal TJ favourite with Chautauqua while Lord Of The Sky is one of the outsiders.
Brazen Beau is missing from the line-up with the colt being aimed at Royal Ascot in June.
Laing believes Lord Of The Sky could have finished second in the Newmarket and he will give him another chance against the big guns in his Sydney debut.
"If he Patrick Moloney had let him stride three lengths quicker I reckon he might have run second," Laing said.
The Randwick track was in the soft range on Friday but with a revised forecast from showers to rain overnight, it is predicted to be heavy.
While Lord Of The Sky will be having his first run right-handed, Laing said the four-year-old has had plenty of experience working on his right leg.
The trainer mixes his work on a regular basis and since his last run in the Newmarket, he has been given a couple of solid 600m gallops.
Lord Of The Sky's best performances have been when he has led or raced outside the leader.
He may, however, have competition for that spot.
As well as Terravista, Joe Pride will send out Rain Affair and Tiger Tees, both mudlarks and both noted front-runners.
"It's going to be a ripper of a race," Pride said.
Damien Oliver replaces apprentice Moloney on Lord Of The Sky who has two wins from five starts on wet ground.
Lankan Rupee, who demonstrated his wet track form with a dominant TJ Smith win last year, came in for support on Friday.
The TAB firmed him from $5.50 to $5, saying the smaller punters were rallying to the title holder.
