David Feek knows Black Chevalier has endurance on his side to compensate for any doubt on his quality in the Galilee Series Final at Flemington.

Black Chevalier will take on 10 three-year-olds in Saturday's race and is a $26 chance behind the $3.80 favourite All I Survey.

"I'm very upbeat about the fact that he'll get the trip and while I have a question mark on his class, his advantage will be his stamina," Feek said.

While Feek has a question mark on Black Chevalier he says it isn't the strongest renewal of the race which is a lead-up to the VRC St Leger.

Black Chevalier was a last-start sixth over 2200m at Bendigo on April 2 and Feek said the gelding had progressed well since.

"He's in good shape but I would love to see this horse on a wet track, which unfortunately we're not going to see," he said.

Feek will be guided by the performance of Black Chevalier before deciding on a start in the St Leger (2800m) at Flemington on Anzac Day.

"Ideally I want to give the horse a quick freshen up and bring him back on soft ground, but if he was to run well then he will definitely go to the St Leger," he said.

Black Chevalier provided Feek and wife Coral with their first winner when successful at Ballarat in February after they branched out on their own in December.

Feek had worked in partnership with fellow Mornington trainer David Brideoake who has Griante running in the Sapphire Stakes at Randwick on Saturday..

While their numbers to the races have been small they are gradually filling the 25 boxes available in their stable.

All I Survey is the favourite on the strength of a runaway Terang win, the gelding's first in five starts.
