Congratulations to our Dynamic Owners of promising stayer Perplexity ( Lonhro / Secret Haze) a now 6 times winner with earnings in excess of $250,000, this son of Lonhro looks to have a bright staying future ahead of him in Queensland.
Having won two starts ago in scintillating fashion, PERPLEXITY found himself on his preferred racing surface again on Saturday.
Starting second favourite, PERPLEXITY jumped well from the barriers to show good speed, settling at the girth of the leader approaching the winning post for the first time.
Ridden by Luke Tarrant, Perplexity wanted to tug for reign in the early part of the race but was restrained under a tight hold. Approaching the 1600m pole Freton decided to whip around the field and inject some pace into the race, Luke patiently allowed Perplexity to stride forward under his own steam to sit at the girth of the new leader.
At the 600m pole Luke slipped Perplexity a little reign and the leaders started to increase their margin. Coming to the 500m mark Perplexity hit is customary flat spot as Luke Tarrant was hard at work asking the horse to pick up the bit and attack the line.
Rounding the turn Freton and Perplexity railed like greyhounds, pinching a break on their rivals before settling down to fight out the race. Perplexity forged clear of Freton inside the final furlong before going on to win the race by half a length on the line.
Jockey Luke Tarrant reported that the further they went, the stronger Perplexity became and a step up in distance would be no problems for this quality galloper.
Training gun Chris Munce has done an outstanding job with Perplexity since his arrival in the sunshine state, Chris has saddled up Perplexity on 5 occasions for 2 Wins, 1 Second, 1 Third and 1 Fourth and has banked connections over $100,000 in Prizemoney.
More impressively is the fact that Perplexity has had 3 starts on his preferred ‘Good’ racing surface for 3 Starts – 2 wins and 1 second which have all come at Saturday metro grade.
The owners of Perplexity will get the chance to cheer on their Dynamic Galloper in the Group 3 Chairmas Handicap at the Gold Coast in two weeks’ time, a race we have no doubts he will acquit himself well in.
