Golden Slipper winner Mossfun retired

Monday 20 April 2015, 5:38pm

Mossfun's autumn campaign has turned out to be her last with the filly to go to the breeding barn in the spring.

The 2014 Golden Slipper winner missed the spring because of a virus and the best result from four autumn starts was second in the Group Three Birthday Card last month.

An $85,000 yearling, Mossfun earned her owner Nasser Lootah more than $2.5 million and she will join the broodmare band at his Emirates Park property.

Mossfun also won three other races including the Widden Stakes and Silver Slipper on her way to the world's richest race for two-year-olds.

The racing future of another Group One winner is also in doubt with Sweet Idea to undergo scans for a tendon problem.

The Gai Waterhouse-trained Galaxy winner had been getting ready for the Brisbane carnival and will be brought back to Sydney to be assessed.

Rebel Dane is another carnival casualty with the five-year-old to undergo throat surgery for a problem detected after his failure in Saturday's All Aged Stakes.
