Trackrider charged over banned device

Wednesday 22 April 2015, 6:05pm

Trackwork rider Damien Bradbury faces a hearing before the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board over the discovery of a `jigger' at Mornington trackwork on Monday.

Racing Victoria stewards have issued a charge against Bradbury for the possession of an illegal electrical apparatus.

Bradbury was also stood down from riding trackwork with immediate effect.

A jigger is a hand-held electrical device, usually used in conjunction with a whip for the purpose of affecting the performance of a horse.

Stewards are continuing their investigation into the circumstances that led to the hand-held battery device being found.

A date for Bradbury's hearing before the RAD Board is yet to be determined.
