The weather holds the key to Queensland country apprentice Brooke Stower making her feature race debut at Toowoomba.
Her master Tony Sears has rewarded Stower for her hard work with the ride on track specialist The Conspirator in Saturday's Listed Weetwood Hcp (1200m).
But the trainer is unlikely to run The Conspirator if the rain continues until Saturday.
"He is a duffer in the rain and it would be a waste of time running him," Sears said.
Stower has been a prolific winner mainly around the Darling Downs with 98 wins in just under two years of riding.
She finished second in the Toowoomba senior jockeys' premiership in her first season and has ridden 39 winners this term.
She got her metropolitan licence last month but has had only limited rides at the midweek meetings where she recently won on Hurricane Cassie at Ipswich.
Sears said he had no hesitation booking Stower for a feature race against some of the most experienced jockeys.
The Conspirator is unbeaten at Toowoomba winning five from five starts including his most recent under 59kg.
"Brooke has won seven times on The Conspirator and they really go well together," Sears said.
"She will probably have a ride or two at the Caloundra meeting in a fortnight but Brooke probably won't be a city regular until the new season starts in August."
If the rain does arrive, Sears has the second emergency Pillar of Creation in the Weetwood.
"Pillar of Creation is a swimmer. I must admit I was upset when he didn't make the field because I really give him a good chance in the race," he said.
"We actually bought him to run in the Weetwood. Hopefully, if we get heavy rain there will be some scratchings and he will get a start," Sears said.
