Apprentice Katelyn Mallyon has made a return to the winner's enclosure at Ballarat after spending two months out of the saddle through injury.
Mallyon was sidelined after aggravating an old back injury in a fall at Moonee Valley on February 27.
The 21-year-old returned to race riding at Kyneton on Monday, finishing unplaced in both rides, before landing the prize at her third ride back aboard Gin Lizzie for Mathew Ellerton and Simon Zahra in the Evergreen Maiden Plate (1200m) on Thursday.
"I had my first two rides over 2000 metres at Kyneton on Monday and I thought I would pull up a little worse than I actually did," Mallyon told Racing Live.
"Everything is going good leading into Saturday and hopefully I can get a winner."
After one ride at Cranbourne on Friday night, Mallyon has four rides at Caulfield the next day including Black Vanquish in the day's feature, the Listed Thoroughbred Club Cup over 1200m.
A last start winner at Flemington on April 11, Black Vanquish is the $3.20 favourite in early betting.
Victory aboard Black Vanquish would be Mallyon's first in a stakes race after three previous seconds.
Mallyon so far has 186 career wins on the board.
