Racing NSW will be able to screen for 8000 types of drugs in one swab with a $1.5 million investment in new equipment.
The current equipment can test for 1000 drugs but the analyst must stipulate which drugs to look for beforehand.
The new equipment tests for 8000 types of drugs without prior input.
Racing NSW chief executive Peter V'landys says the equipment will be operational by the end of May.
"It is another weapon in our armoury for the enforcement of integrity," V'landys said.
