Brilliant filly Hidden Pearl may step straight into Listed company after her runaway win at Toowoomba.
Hidden Pearl ($1.70 fav) made it three wins from three starts for Eagle Farm trainer Barry Lockwood when she won Saturday's Optus Hcp (1000m) by 5-1/4 lengths from I Am Boss ($5).
Lockwood has done great job as the filly failed to win a race in four starts when originally trained in the NSW Northern Rivers region.
"She has come along in leaps and bounds and continues to surprise us," Lockwood said.
"She won a jump-out by lengths and then she has won her three starts for us by big margins."
"I am keen to start her in the black type fillies and mares races during the winter. But first I might even step her straight up to Listed class with the Lightning (1050m at Doomben on May 30)."
Girls Command gave local trainer Michael Nolan a popular win in the Bundaberg Rum Hcp (1200m).
Girls Command ($5.50), who had won her previous start at Dalby, is raced by five members of the Toowoomba Turf Club committee.
She overcame several checks in the middle stages to wear down the favourite Satirical Lass ($4.40) by half a length.
Nolan is keen to head to Brisbane with Girls Command for a three-year-old fillies race in a fortnight.
"It was a great run today because she was checked a few times and still finished her race off," he said.
