Former Aussie wins Group 3 in Kentucky

Former Australian sprinter Power Alert has won the Group Three Twin Spires at Churchill Downs.

The winner of four races including the 2013 Wellington Boot when trained by Trevor Sutherland at Wagga, Power Alert was sent to the United States after he bled for the second time and was banned from racing in Australia.

His win in the 1000m Twin Spires was his third from four starts in America where he is allowed to race on the anti-bleedng medication Lasix.

Ridden by Julien Leparoux for trainer Brian Lynch, Power Alert took the lead mid-race and won in a record time of 55.17secs.
